Kirriemuir Wargames Club Demo

Urban War demos at the Kirriemuir Wargames Club

Legionnaire Neil McGregor held Urban War demos at the Kirriemuir Wargames Club

This was a small intro game for a new player someone who offered to help me but found out there were a lot of rules they need to read up on!

We used 300pt teams on a table slightly smaller than 4x4.Gladiators vs Vasa. The more experienced player used his own roster and I created a team for the new player.

As usual the first turn was all about movement, the only weapon to fire was the gladiators howitzer which managed to kill 2 suppressors and shock & panic Neura!

After that first hit the Vasa were struggling.. I think mainly as a result of the player almost going into shock at the power of the howitzer. In turn 2 more movement with one or two pot shots. Neura also managed to wound a Great Pit Beast sending it into a rampage!

A few more turns passed with various kills. The main problem seemed to be the Vasa dying before the Gladiators could get into close combat. The rampaging Pit Beast also helped the Vasa by killing some gladiators. Despite all the kills the Vasa refuses to flee from the battle.

In the last few turns (which seemed to go on forever) the Vasa mainly were managing to stay in cover but were being picked of every turn or so. In the final turn the Kabuki ired by the Vasa was the only remaining player on that side. Unfortunately she did not last long. After killing a pit beast in cc she then died by shotgun fire in a brave attempt to kill a secutor with a shuriken.

The Gladiators took the victory for this game and the player left feeling happy and very keen on getting a strike team (he already has rules)

The Vasa player will be buying a hard copy of the rules shortly and will read them properly!! He also has a better understanding of a lot of special rules now.
